Call forwarding on iPhone
On iPhone you set up forwarding by dialling short codes. It takes about two minutes. Do it from the phone you want AfterTone to answer for.
Do not use Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding. That forwards every call straight to your assistant so your phone never rings. We only want calls you don't answer.

Open the Phone app and tap Keypad
The keypad is the grid of numbers at the bottom of the Phone app.
Important: Do not use Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding. That forwards every call straight to your assistant so your phone never rings. We only want calls you don't answer.
The same steps, written out
- Open the Phone app and tap KeypadThe keypad is the grid of numbers at the bottom of the Phone app.
- Clear any old forwardingType this code exactly and tap the green call button. Your phone shows a short confirmation. If it says nothing was set, that's fine too.
- Turn on forwarding for unanswered callsType this code with your AfterTone number in the middle, then tap call. The 20 at the end is how many seconds your phone rings before your assistant picks up.
- Check it tookType this and tap call. You should see your AfterTone number listed under Voice. If it says Not Active, go back one step and try again.
- Test itUse the Check my forwarding button on your dashboard. We ring you; let it ring out and don't answer. Or ask a friend to call you and let it ring.
Replace +61 2 XXXX XXXX with the number in your dashboard. Logged-in subscribers see these steps with their own number filled in.
To turn it off again
To pause forwarding at any time, dial this and tap call. Dial the code from step 3 to turn it back on.
If something goes wrong
My phone doesn't ring, calls go straight to the assistant
Always forward is on. Dial ##21# to clear it, then redo step 3.
Calls go to my normal voicemail instead
Your carrier voicemail is answering first. Dial ##002# to clear everything, then redo step 3. Your voicemail will be replaced by your assistant.
The phone says the setting failed
Check the number has +61 at the start and no spaces. Some plans need forwarding switched on by the carrier first. Their number is listed above.
Callers hear a busy tone
The number was typed wrong. Dial ##61# to clear it, then redo step 3 carefully.
