How can we help?

Clear, simple instructions for setting up and troubleshooting AfterTone. Still stuck? Use the chat assistant at the bottom of this page.

What is call forwarding?

Call forwarding tells your phone: "If I don't answer within a few rings, send the call to this other number."

Your phone rings normally first. If you pick up — great. If you don't, the caller is seamlessly connected to your AI assistant. They never dial a different number.

Set up "When no answer" forwarding — NOT "Always forward". Always forward means your phone never rings at all and all calls go straight to your AI assistant.

iPhone setup

Works on all iPhone models — takes about 2 minutes
1
Open your Phone app and go to the dial pad
Open the green Phone app on your iPhone — the same one you use to make calls. Tap the keypad icon at the bottom so you can type in numbers.
2
Clear any existing forwarding
Type in exactly what you see below, then tap the green Call button. You'll hear a quick confirmation tone. This removes any old forwarding that might be interfering.
##21#
##61#
Dial both, one after the other.
3
Set up 'when no answer' forwarding
Now dial this code — it tells your phone to forward to AfterTone if you don't answer within 20 seconds. Type it exactly as shown, then tap Call.
**61*+61485004405*11*20#
Tip: Replace +61485004405 with your AfterTone number shown in your dashboard. The 20 at the end is how many seconds your phone rings before AfterTone answers — you can change it to 15 or 30.
You should see a confirmation message on screen. If you see an error, double-check you typed it exactly as shown.
4
Confirm it worked
Dial this to verify the forwarding is active:
*#61#
You should see your AfterTone number listed. If it says "not active", go back and repeat Step 3.
5
Do a test call
Ask a friend or family member to call your normal mobile number. Don't answer your phone. After about 20 seconds, your AI assistant should pick up and have a conversation with them. You'll receive a summary by email within about a minute of the call ending.
To turn it off temporarily
Dial ##61# and tap Call. Your phone goes back to normal immediately.

Android setup

Samsung, Google Pixel, and most Android phones
Shortcut: The iPhone dial codes above also work on most Android phones. Try those first — just open your Phone app, go to the dial pad, and enter the same codes.
1
Open your Phone app and find Settings
Open the Phone app. Look for a menu — usually three dots (⋮) in the top right corner of the screen. Tap it, then tap Settings.
2
Find Call Forwarding
Look for one of these menu options (the name varies depending on your phone brand):
  • Call forwarding — most common
  • More settings → Call forwarding
  • Supplementary services → Call forwarding
If you can't find it, try going to your phone's main Settings app → Network & Internet → Calls → Call forwarding.
3
Choose the right type — very important
You'll see multiple options. Do not tap "Always forward" — that sends all calls to AfterTone without ringing your phone first.
✓ Tap "When unanswered" (also called "No reply" or "When no answer")
4
Enter your AfterTone number
Type in your AfterTone number exactly as shown in your dashboard — it should start with +61. Tap Enable or Update to save.
5
Test it
Ask someone to call your normal number. Don't answer. Your AI assistant should pick up after a few rings.

Prefer to have your carrier do it?

Call your carrier and say: "Please set up a call divert when no answer to [your AfterTone number]." They'll do it in about 2 minutes.
